Sunday Brunch

Monday, April 23, 2012

Yesterday was truly a day of rest.  We slept in until about 10:00 and puttered around until about 2:00 PM.  We then headed out to The Ginger Loft because Susan was jonesing for some eggs benedict.  It took us about twenty minutes to get there and when we walked in things were a bit quiet.  Business did pick up while we were there.

Santi made a special cocktail for Susan that was his take on a gimlet.  Susan had a second cocktail that Santo calls a capirosca.  It is vodka based and has ingredients similar to the Brazilian caipirinha. I have simpler tastes so I settled for a beer or two.  One of this afternoon’s specials was a Japanese take on ceviche.  We had tried it before on a previous visit and we were eager to try it again.  Susan ordered her eggs benedict with cured salmon and I had Mike make me a Chinese noodle salad with chicken breast.  He amped up the heat a bit and it was the perfect Sunday afternoon eye-opener.  We finished the meal with coffee.

On our way out Susan asked Mike if she could interview and photograph him for her blog project.  He was agreeable and asked Susan to come by on Wednesday to chat and take some photos.  From The Ginger Loft it was a brief five-minute walk to Linares where we enjoyed an ice cream.  Estefania now waits on us all the time since we have become her customers.  I had made her a couple of things – a frog and a pearl poodle – and I presented them to her.  She in turn would not charge us for our ice creams.

On our way back home we stopped at Carusel to say hello and carol was there with the baby.  We played with the baby for a while and then continued on our way.  We watched a couple of movies when we got home LOVE ACTUALLY and BRIDGET JONES’ DIARY and followed that up with two episodes of THE MENTALIST.  We finally got to bed around midnight.
